About
Setting up for the September Group Show at City Art Cooperative Gallery, 2017
Jennifer Slotnick
I create glass art using the pâte de verre and kiln casting techniques, giving form to my daydreams. My work is shaped by fleeting thoughts, imaginative visions of what could be, intertwined with experiences I’ve had. It’s not about nostalgia, but about exploring the fluid space between memory and possibility.
Using both delicate layers and solid, weighty cast forms, I shape objects that feel like they exist between reality and dreams. Some dreams remain unchangeable, shaped by time and circumstance, while others bend and reshape through choice and free will. The softness of powdered glass, the fluidity of molten material, and the weight of the final form mirror the way ideas evolve.
Through glass, I capture the in-between spaces. Tension between past and future, memory and possibility, fragility and permanence.
